In reply to @bosinski2023 "ic, so did i": I wouldn't say they are competent and clever enough, you can always come up with corner cases where you know a lot more than them and so handwritten code/scheduling is better. But for a general purpose lib that runs anywhere, it's not worth it anymore to spend time on trying to pin to a CPU. Especially when the OS can colocate other workloads on that CPU for example (or that CPU may be virtual in a VM) if you have a supercomputer with exclusive access it's interesting again
