I never liked Discord in the first place. I am still of the opinion that it's a terrible idea to use a chat application as main (and sometimes the only) place for project support and discussions, but we are here in 2026 and 99% of interesting software communities practically live only on Discord. I was forced to create an account to follow a bunch of those in 2016. For most of those years I was just lurking, because I hate instant messaging. You can even notice that right now I treat Discord more like a forum board and sometimes reply half a day later. I also don't have notifications for any social media and just check everything manually when I feel like it (usually, 1-2 times a day). For last 3 years, I'm using Discord only for this server alone. And with each year it becomes slower, uglier, more AD-ridden and enshittified. The age verification was the last straw I needed to finally give it up. (@[Next-System] systemblue)
